#68 - Productivity 101 - Observe and deal with your emotions. Don’t just quit on failing to make a new habit.
When we try to create a new habit, we will not strike gold on a first try. Most likely, our first try will never take off. Though our second one takes off, we will not be able to sustain it for more than few days. Because of such false starts and presumptions that we picked along the way, we will not have the motivation to try for the third time.
You know what, this is natural and the norm. This is a secret that successful people, who have mastered their habits will never tell. It is more to do with their tendency of projecting a picture of invincibility and hiding their insecurities. During this, they forget to pass on a valuable lesson to others.
When we try to create new habits, it is totally OK to have false starts and fail miserably along the course. It will be frustrating when you fail. We have to recognize that failure is part of the process and deal with it objectively. Only through failure and patience, we will find a way to master a habit.
P.S. Since 2011, I have been experimenting to create new habits and improve productivity. I am documenting those things that have worked for me. Initially, it was a struggle to create new habits. There were false starts. Then there were frustrating periods when I couldn’t sustain the momentum. I started following people who were on this similar journey and tried to learn from them. This series of posts is a result of years of experimentation and practice.
