#69 - Productivity 101 - Make incremental improvements in your habit
I have written about why is it important to start small when you try to create a new habit and how to handle frustrations when you fail during the process.
Once you start small and make some progress, you should increment the milestone. This way you don’t feel overwhelmed at the start. Also, this increment should not be too hard to do and should not be too meagre a progress. In few days, this progress will be your new normal.
Say, you have been writing one page per day for the past week. Now increase it to two pages per day for the next week. And a week after that, increase it to three pages per day. So on and So forth.
This way we would be making continuous improvement in our habits.
P.S. Since 2011, I have been experimenting to create new habits and improve productivity. I am documenting those things that have worked for me. Initially, it was a struggle to create new habits. There were false starts. Then there were frustrating periods when I couldn’t sustain the momentum. I started following people who were on this similar journey and tried to learn from them. This series of posts is a result of years of experimentation and practice.
